5 Prayers Widget — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

5 Prayers Widget ("the app") shows Islamic prayer times, an athan (adhan) alert, a Qibla direction and related information on your Android home screen, lock screen and notification bar. This policy explains what data the app handles and why.

Summary

Accounts (optional)

The app can be used without signing in. Choose "Continue as guest", or simply never open the Profile tab, and no account is created and nothing is uploaded.

If you do sign in, you may do so with your Google account or with an email address and a password. Signing in exists for one reason: so that your prayer log survives a lost or replaced phone.

What we store while you are signed in. One record per account, holding:

Your email address, and where you signed in with Google your Google account identifier, are held by Firebase Authentication so that you can sign in again. We never receive your Google password. Email passwords are handled by Firebase and we never see them.

What is never stored with your account: your location or city, your prayer times, your settings, your widget appearance, your purchases, or your contacts. Those stay on your device whether you are signed in or not.

Who can see it. Only you. The database rules permit each account to read and write its own record and nothing else. No other user of the app can reach it. We do not sell it, share it or publish it.

Where it is kept. In a Google Firebase project operated by us, in Google's Dammam region in Saudi Arabia. Google acts as our processor; see Firebase's privacy information.

How long. Your record keeps the last thirteen months of your log, and anything older is removed automatically on the next sync. Your own phone keeps its full history regardless, until you uninstall.

Deleting your account and your data

You can delete your account and everything stored with it at any time, and you do not need to ask us.

In the app:

  1. Open the app and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap the Settings gear next to your name.
  3. Under Account, tap Delete account, and confirm.

This permanently removes the record stored with your account — your name, your prayer marks, your Quran and dhikr counts — and the sign-in account itself, including your email address. It cannot be undone. The log on your own phone is left alone; uninstalling the app removes that.

If you have already uninstalled the app, or you cannot sign in, email 90halkurdi@gmail.com from the address you signed in with and ask for your account to be deleted. We will do it and confirm, normally within 30 days.

Signing out is not the same as deleting. It leaves your record in place, so that signing in again brings your log back.

Location

If you tap "Use my GPS location", the app asks Android for your approximate/precise location, stores the resulting coordinates and city name on your device, and uses them to calculate prayer times and the Qibla bearing. While that option is on, the app checks your location again each time you open it — never in the background — and updates the stored place only if you have moved more than about 5 km, so your prayer times follow you when you travel. If your phone’s time zone changes, the app may show a notification asking you to open it or choose your city; this uses the time zone only, not your location. To show the name of your city, the coordinates are passed to Android's geocoder (provided by Google) to look up the place name. You can instead type a city name; that search is sent to the same geocoder to look up coordinates, and only the city text you typed is transmitted. Your location is never uploaded to our Firebase project, is not part of your account record, and is deleted when you uninstall the app.

No advertising

The app shows no ads, in the free version or in Premium. It contains no advertising SDK, does not access your device's advertising ID, and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Usage statistics

To learn how many people open the app and come back to it, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase. It records events such as the app being opened, the screens viewed, how long the app is used and a Premium purchase (the product and its price, never your payment details), together with a random identifier for this installation of the app, the device model, the Android or iOS version, the app version and an approximate location (country or region) worked out by Google from a masked IP address. It never receives your name, your email, your precise location, your prayer times or your prayer log.

This is the same on Android and iPhone. The advertising ID (on iPhone, the IDFA, and the identifier for vendors) is not collected, the app never asks to track you, and all advertising uses are switched off: no ad storage, no ad personalisation and no sharing of this data for advertising. We have also turned off sharing of this data with Google for product improvement, benchmarking and its sales specialists. Google acts as our processor; see Firebase's privacy information. The data is kept for the default period of Google Analytics (two months for event-level data) and is used only to understand and improve the app.

Purchases

Premium is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time purchase, all processed by Google Play Billing. We receive only a purchase token confirming Premium; payment details stay with Google. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in Google Play. Premium belongs to your Google Play account rather than to an app account, and is not part of your stored record.

A three-day free trial of Premium starts the first time the app runs. It is kept on your device, needs no payment details, and ends on its own; nothing is charged when it ends.

Notifications

With your permission the app posts local notifications (prayer reminders, athan playback control and an optional prayer-times bar). These are generated on the device; no notification service of ours is involved, and we do not send push messages.

Data we store on the device

Your settings (city and coordinates, calculation method, widget colours and options, premium status), your prayer log, and how many times you have said each dhikr and duaa today are stored in app-private storage on your device and are removed when you uninstall. Android's automatic backup may include them in your Google account backup according to your device settings.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date.
